If you are interested in commissioning custom studio furniture with us, the first step is an exploratory meeting at our shop or at your home. In this conversation, we begin to define the practical needs of the project, and the client’s aesthetic vision for it.

We then generate initial drawings and pricing for the project. This first design and estimate is always provided free of charge. At this point, a project start date and delivery date are defined as well. If there are formal or functional elements that the client would like changed or re-thought, additional design and pricing rates apply at $75/hr.

Once the design, materials, and price have been settled on, Neville Fabrication and the client sign a simple commission agreement defining the terms of the project and an “in-earnest” fee is paid. This fee is typically 5% of the total cost of the project, and holds a client’s place on Neville Fabrication’s shop schedule.

When the project start date arrives, the down-payment is made, materials are purchased and work on the client’s project begins. During the build phase, we encourage the client to come by the shop to see their piece being produced. This gives the client insight into the furniture making process, and ensures that they are pleased with the work before finishing and delivery. When delivery day comes, the client can begin to enjoy their new piece of custom furniture.
